Summer 2005 Update on Sabine
Because of health problems I stopped 2 years ago going to Viking
markets. To help improve my health I went to Norway after all the
problems we had here in Germany.
In Norway life has a different rhythm. Since I speak Norwegian I used
my time there to look in the Norwegian library researching more books
about runic lore and health practices during ancient times. Some of
these books I found were inaccurate citing the same nonsense contained
in libraries throughout the world but here in Norway they keep also very old books
too, within the library’s archives. I accessed these rare works found within
the library’s old achieves using my membership card and via
appointment.
I found therein partly contained confirmation on the things I already
knew about and other parts opened my eyes to how much shit and false
beliefs exists today about the times and practiced lore that is actually in circulation not
just outside but all so inside Scandinavia.
The Arctic Circle is a good place to reflect on all this and when I
was not busy looking for work, I had plenty of time to do exactly
that. This led me to the conclusion that our time here and now is too
screwed up to take the truth. Most people are into it because they are
frustrated with their lives and escape into runelore or other mystical
practices because they don’t want to face reality or their own lives?
Sadly it seems when they are not satisfied, they turn to using controlled substances,
drug induced rituals or
prayers to the old gods as substitute for an unfulfilled life. This
causes an identity crisis and their
own complexes, lack of self confidence or feeling of self worth
leads them to believe they are something special, from Odin’s daughter
to brother of Thor and more.
I decided to stop trying to educate people or tell them the true ways
because they really don't want to know of it. It seems to me
that they just want to be supported via Neo Pagan practices or some
other made up belief system adding new inspiration for new ways to
practice what I believe is nothing more then profile neurotic games
that they play. If you criticize their practices, they tend to try to
turn this round saying that you are the bad guy here? And if you tell
them the truth they are disappointed and wave it off or use part of it
to make a new creation of their lunatic fringe system.
For the true folks who are capable of handling criticism and truths, I
will be writing a book soon. I guess that it was no coincidence that
my CD disc with my book material on it got destroyed when it was nearly finished.
This new book is no longer my old material for now I write it new and better
then before.
My book may be a great disappointment to profile neurotics and will
make them more then angry. But all the folks who really want to learn
something will find not inspiration but true information written with
sound judgment and reasoning. Those looking for instant magic formulas or
rituals should not bother themselves by reading my book. My book is
intended for people that want to know the truths and learn about
Sækja
Sefi, medical knowledge and practices that was in common use. And
there is nothing magical about that.
For the moment I will not hold lectures anymore. No food for the mental d.....this is all I have to say to
that!
Yours
Faithfully

Spring 2006 Update on Sabine
This is the explanation to the book I'm writing right now. This is not
a book for people that look for instant magic formulas or the usual
stuff you find in books about the old Nordic ways. If my book will be
the first time you got a book about this subject you’re lucky because
you don’t learn first all the rubbish that got written and at the same
time I would recommend that you read one of the others so you get a
bit of basic knowledge first. Why just one? Well because you just need
one, all books on the market basically write the same and I do not
want to repeat what so many did write already.
Yes it is true, all books you can buy or let’s say nearly all to be
fair are nothing but copies of what someone else did write just
wrapped up in different words with one or two ideas of the author in
it building the new part. If you look at the reference list in the
back of these books, you will find that nearly all have the same
reference for example author A gives B and C a reference. Author B
gives A, C and D a reference and if you follow that through you find
that all give the same. Not one of them make himself the work to find
new evidence and the reason is simple. They all got what I call tunnel
vision. They look at old scribes from Albertus Magnus1
or archeologically findings. None ever looked at old cookbooks
or medical books etc.
Well I looked at things like that and old family writings, I will give
some references but not to all because that would fill a book on its
own. And to be honest no one really reads them anyway and its not of
so high importance, I write this for the interested and not to prove
anything. There is so much knowledge locked away because of lack of
money to get it dated or because of lack of proof for official people
a family book is no proof or evidence that it took place or was in
common practice. But why would people write things down in a time
where most dark ages people were illiterate and could neither write nor read?
For me it is good enough if I read something that is more then a
couple of hundred years old. However if you have a problem with my approach to
this subject then save your time and just don’t read what I did write,
because not all has conventional back up as I would say.
So what is it all about then you may ask? Well it is about old medical
practises like Sækja Sefi2, about old rites
and so called old rites that never existed but are in common beliefs
of so called neo-pagans. It will explain about the real life of that
time, the life of the ordinary folk and not of kings and jarls or godhi.
It will also explain about what was commonly believed, rites or
practices of ordinary people and what was just known by a few of the
so called medical people of that time. Which also being often the
psychologist and social adviser in those days. And the tricks they
used to remain in respect to their fellow man which is often the
reason for the misconception in our days, especially when the use of runes
is concerned.
For example, they all talk about the so called power runes3
and their magical use. Why should one Rune be more powerful then
another? It is a symbol carved into wood or stone, so why would it have
magical power that is extraordinary? Well that is not exactly logical,
that’s why people call it magic, but what is really behind it, how
these beliefs came about? This friend is one of those things you will find
out in my book and I can assure you esoteric freaks will not like the
answer.
In my first chapter I will clear up some of these misconceptions
before I come to old techniques or other things that may interest you.
I hope to have the book finish by the end of 2006 and that it will
open the eyes of people to the real world of the old days.
Yours faithfully
Sabine Morrison
Footnotes:
1.
In the thirteenth century
German named Albertus Magnus (c.1208-1280) might be considered another
magus. In the Dominican Order he rose to the position of Bishop of
Ratisbourg. Later he was canonized as Saint Albert the Great. He was
both student and teacher of alchemy and chemistry, and an alleged
magician. He firmly believed in the benefits of botany claiming
various plants, rocks, and amethysts improved clairvoyance
2.
Sækja Sefi (ON)
translates roughly as a
changed
state of emotions or feelings some translate it as changed state of
being. It is actually an ancient healing art.
In poetic edda (Saemundar
edda) Grogaldur 9) ok snúisk þeim til sátta sefi = turn them to
agreement in mind the word Saekja (sækja) is common in icelandic and
is in many places.
3.
Power Runes refers to a
belief that certain fuþark
period runes held magical power or a greater power then the other
runes.
